Has the Russian Bear Awakened?

Over the space of a decade-and-a-half, the world has experienced several very stark snapshots of the inhumanity of mankind that should have raised the specter that man, believing he has arrived at the gate of Utopia has arrived, instead, at the crossroads of its own extermination. Man now faces the very real threat of a global nuclear holocaust at the hands of Muslim extremists bent on martyrdom, our trading partners in Beijing, or the revived Soviet Union. And that man's actions, whatever he does, will only speed us to the destination known in the Holy Bible as Armageddon.
The latest reminder that the hands of the doomsday clock are ticking was the Soviet invasion of Georgia. It appears the invasion was triggered by two events. First, Muslim separatists in Muslim-majority South Ossetia are repeating the feat of Albanian Muslims who stole the mineral wealth of Yugoslavia from the Serbs during the Clinton years by declaring the Yugoslav province of Kosovo to be an independent Muslim State. Second, on Aug. 7, 2008 the Georgian military invaded the Georgian breakawy province to prevent the Georgian Muslims in South Ossetia from merging with Russian North Ossetia. (Muslim separists call the breakaway province South Ossetia. It's historic name is Samachablo, or more recently, Tskhinvali—now the name of the capital.) Ultimately, the goal of the Ossetian Muslims is to break away from their non-Muslim landlords and become an Islamic nation governed by Sharia Law. When Georgia declared itself an independent nation in August, 1990, South Ossetia declared itself independent from Georgia. Georgia abolished South Ossetia's autonomous status in December, 1990. On Nov. 28, 1991 South Ossetia declared its independence from Georgia. Ethnic unrest escalated under Eduard Shevardnadze and triggered an 18-month war.
On April. 8, 2001 the Muslim-majority South Ossetians held a referendum to change the Republic of South Ossetia's constitution and increase "local" presidential authority. Roughly two-thirds of the Muslim population turned out to vote, and two-thirds of them approved the change. The intent of South Ossetia was to be annexed by North Ossetia, which is a lawful satellite of the Russian Federation. The Russians knew South Ossetia intended to be reunited with the Russian Federation. Shevardnadze rejected the secession of South Ossetia. The Ossetian Muslims appealed to the European Union and the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe. The EU and the OSCE condemned Ossetiia's action and declared the attempted secession was illegal.
In April, 2008 NATO agreed to admit Georgia into the North Atlantic Treaty Organization "at some point." This decision angering Moscow. .Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin (the former Russian Federation President) was angered by NATO's decision since the Russians oppose the eastward expansion of NATO. Putin and newly-elected Russian President Dmitry Medvedev moved quickly to inflame Muslims in South Ossetia and another Islamic breakaway province, Abkhazia. Russia strengthened its economic ties with the breakaway provinces and warned Georgian President Mikhail Saaashvili (elected in 2004) that if violence erupted in either province, Russia would insert troops into the equation to defend the citizens of those provinces since they carried Russian, not Georgian, passports. Because of the current conflict between Georgia and Russia, NATO has removed the membership offer from the table—at least as far as Georgia is concerned.
On Aug. 7 Georgia interjected 2,000 troops into South Ossetia following clashes between separatists and Georgian police. The Georgians also launched airl strikes on Muslim strongholds that indiscriminately killed hundreds of civilians. including women and children. Survivers in the attack on Dzhava, a village near the Russian border, told the media that not a single building in the town was undamaged, and that bodies lay in the streets.
On Aug. 8 Georgian troops were in control of Tskhinvali, the capital. Within hours of Georgia subduing separtist hostilities, Russia began air strikes on Georgian targets, first in South Ossetia and then in Georgia itself. Following the aerial strikes, Russia deployed 10,000 troops into South Ossetia, sweeping through the province and driving the Georgians out of Tskhinvali. On Friday, Georgia launched a massive counter-attack to regain control of South Ossetia using heavy artillery and aircraft. The Georgians claim to have shot down two Russian jet fighters. Russia claims the only soldiers they sent to South Ossetia were peacekeepers. However, the 10,000 "peacekeepers" were supported by 50 Russian tanks and a convoy of armored personnel carriers who were clearly backing the separtists with lethal fire. Further, Russian bombers targeted Georgia's economic infrastructure including Georgia's largest Black Sea port city of Poti.
To the spectators on the world stage the confrontation was expected. British intelligence predicted it earlier this year. The separatist movements in Abkhazia and South Ossentia were heavily supported by Russia as part of Moscow's strategy to weaken Georgia. In Moscow's collective mind, the West—the United States in particular—has stoked Georgia's fire by providing the former Soviet satellite with military assistance (in the form of arms sales and assistance in training its troops. The move was seen by Moscow as a challenge of its dominance with one of its key former republics. America's presence in Georgia is to protect the world's second longest oil pipeline, the 1,109 Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline to Turkey that bypasses Russia's stanglehold on energy exports from that region. (When the Georgia and Russian situation heated up to the boiling point, British Petroleum [BP-Amoco] closed down the pipeline and temporarily stopped the flow of 1.2 million barrels of crude per day heading for a gas station near you. Not reported in the US media was the Russian attack to "protect" the Muslim majority in South Ossetia was the Russian's bombing of the Georgian oil tanker fleet harbored at Poti. The Paris-based International Energy Agency [IEA] warned Russia that's its actions threatened the strategic energy hub. In its monthy report, released on Tuesday, August 12, the IEA said: "Recent escalation in military enegagement between Russia and Georgia poses a hreat to certain key oil and gas pipelines which transit Georgia. While the conflict...may have been the main source of attention, for us, the most most significant supply event was the attack on the BTC [pipeline] and the implication that it may continue to be a target."
Since his election in 2004, US-educated Georgian President Saakashvili has transformed Georgia's dire communist-style econosphere into a model western market economy, proving that free-enterprise capitalism works. Russia-watchers are convinced Moscow is trying to force Georgia back into the Soviet sphere, and will use Georgia's capitulation to Moscow to force the remaining former satellites back into the Soviet orbit. To weaken the United States, the remerging Soviet Union and their communist ally, the People's Republic of China will supply the radical Muslim world with nuclear weapons to use against the United States. Under the Reagan-era MAD (mutually-assured-destruction) philosophy the Islamic extremists and the western bloc nations will destroy each other sufficiently that the Soviet Union and Red China will be the world's only remaining super powers.
The Sham Collapse of the Soviet Union
At the end of World War II the global bankers, the merchant kings, the barons of business and transnational industrialists decided that national politicians could no longer be trusted to make the right decisions concerning the political, societal and economic issues within their borders. Nor could they be trusted to negotiate reasonable trade agreements with other nations since they always put their national—or personal—interests ahead of the good of the world community. And since the bankers, businessmen and industrialists had become transnational, they decided it was in their best interests to reconfigure the status of the nation-states to best suit their economic needs.
In the decade immediately following World War II, the bankers, the businessmen, the industrialists and "big donor" international diplomats (who were largely bankers, businessmen, and industrialists), divided the world into spheres of political and economic influence with the transnational businessmen and bankers supporting only those politicians who viewed the world through the prism of globalism.
Over the next five decades those spheres of influence evolved into much more complex economic zones. They would became the currency zones of the future "regional nations" as the largely invisible emprey of the money barons and the transnational captains of industry established the invisible boundaries of the evolutionary regional economic zones as the first stage of successfully creating a cohesive world government was initiated.
The New World Order, which theoretically rose from the ashes of the Old World Order of the deposed royalty of Europe was prematurely born with the creation of the failed League of Nations in 1920. The League of Nations would remain a feeble, undernourished infant until the threats to civil liberties posed by global communism were conquered—or adroitly concealed. Because communism failed as a viable economic system, the Marxist utopians were forced to pretend that their political system failed as well. The staged collapse of world communism occurred as a "made for TV" event with the fabricated coupe to overthrow the government of Mikhail Gorbachev on August 18, 1991.
According to Gorbachev in his own book, "The August Coup," (a propaganda piece contrived to convince the West that the Soviets did not pose a danger to the West) the communist hard-liners who attempted to overthrow Gorbachev's government, took his family captive at their Dachau on Cape Foros in the Crimea. They were held captive in total isolation as the hardliners attempted to force Gorbachev to abrogate his presidency.
Yet, the hard-liners, who theoretically would be executed if the plot failed, never cut his phone lines to Moscow—nor did they interfere with his ability to freely communicate with his political allies in the Kremlin. Nor did they restrict his movement in the dachau which, theoretically, allowed Gorbachev to write a letter to his supporters in Moscow and smuggle it out of Cape Foros. Further, according to Gorbachev and the international media, the hard-liners imposed a news blackout all over the Soviet Union to conceal the coup until Soviet president Gorbachev and Russian president Boris Yeltsin were deposed and arrested.
How do we know this? Aside from the fact that Gorbachev makes the statement in his book, CNN broadcast the entire "coup" live for the world to watch as Yeltsin stood down the hard-liners in the Kremlin by barricading himself in the Parliament building. Had there been an international news blackout, CNN would not have been allowed to broadcast the coup--live or any other way--for all the world to see. CNN's video cameras would have been running only if the coup was staged to convince the world that the Iron Curtain was falling—just as the Berlin Wall fell on Nov. 9, 1989. Gorbachev returned to Moscow on August 20 as an international hero who was revered far more in the United States than he was in the Soviet Union. Since the Russian people knew who, and what, he was, they were not deceived by him nor impressed that he survived the "coup." Yeltsin—the radical former mayor of Moscow, on the other hand—was viewed by the Russia people as a genuine hero.
From a visual perspective, the former Soviet Union appeared to be gone. Its former satellites were once again independent nations. Economically and politically, the Russian Federation appeared to have taken its place. However, it was a name change like the League of Nations to the United Nations. The former Soviet satellites have the autonomy today they did not possess during the Soviet era, but it is not much different than the type of autonomy our 50 States possess in dealing with the federal government of the United States. Buried behind all of the democratic rhetoric emanating from Moscow for the past decade is the same old Marxist philosophy that brought Vladimir Lenin to power to in 1917 and Vladimir Putin to power on Dec. 31, 1999. The post-Soviet world appeared to have changed, but its interlocking root system that connects the world's nations through their bankings systems remained the same.
And while the West pretended that Glasnost and Perestroila were working throughout the entire eight blind years under Bill Clinton, the former Soviet empire remains alive and well, adroitly concealed behind the facade of the freedom-lovin' Russian Federation. Since the fabricated Auigust Coup brought down the Iron Curtain, the Russian Federation has enthusiatiscally promoted free enterprise democracy for consumption by the West—and for the benefit of the Soviet oligarchs who love money as much as the American oligarchs. US fast food chains like McDonalds, Subway, Dunkin' Donuts, Pizza Hut and Baskin Robbins are everywhere in Russia. The Soviets know that Americans gauge the "Americanization" of their former enemies by the number of fast food restuarants, and whether US consumers are more focused on the Coke-Pepsi War in Moscow than they are the re-emerging Cold War.
From the moment he was inaugurated, George W. Bush's priorities were singularly focused on completing an anti-missile shield over the United States, Canada, England and Israel and expanding NATO to cover the former Soviet satellite nations who still fear the Soviet bear. In 2006 Nobel laureate Alexander Solzhenitsyn accused the United States and NATO of trying to encircule Russia.
In an interview with the Moscow News, the fomer Soviet dissident argued that "...[t]hough it's clear that present-day Russia poses no threat to it, NATO is methodically and persistently building ujp its military machine into easten Europe and surrounding Russia from the south. This involves open material and ideological support for 'color revolutions' and the paradoxical forcing of North Atlantic interests on Central Asia. All of this leaves no doubt they are preparing to completely encircle Russia and deprive it of its sovereignty." Solzhenitsyn argued that it was wrong for the Ukraine and Georgia to seek NATO membership, adding that Putin was now making efforts to restore Russia's shattered statehood. That can only happen if the Soviet Union is reincarnated.
