Law of the Sea Treaty
is looming in the Senate

Recent reports have indicated that a vote on the ratification of the Law of the Sea Treaty is looming in the Senate.
On October 4, the Senate Committee on Foreign Relations held a hearing on LOST where several of the witnesses provided testimony in favor of ratifying the treaty. Since the hearing, we have heard several reports that a Senate vote is expected to take place within the coming weeks.
Our staff has contacted a Wisconsin Senator's office and learned that a vote on ratification for LOST has been tentatively scheduled to take place before the end of the year. However, no date was given and the vote could technically take place at any given time.
